I cannot recommend watching Emily Blunt enough who is outstanding in this role. Chaske Spencer I loved also and the story as a whole. Watch them in the Prime series”The English” and let me know what you think of it. One part has the saddest song I’ve ever heard, by Mazzie Star, “Into Dust”. It didn’t help that while hearing this song I received a call that an old friend had just been killed in a car crash. I had to turn off the song.😭
The song: https://youtu.be/04J0ihSeIuI

So easy-peasy prompt: choose one of the paintings below and write a poem in any style or form. You can describe what you think is happening, or you can write about a feeling it evokes.

I’m currently listening to another VE Schwab book titled “Vicious” and I have two books I am waiting for coming out in 2023 that I’m looking forward to, next in series I’ve followed. Today I’ll highlight Don Winslow’s series about policing, drugs and drug cartels:

“The Dawn Patrol” was my favorite—lighter than the others but others here I think are important because of the insight they give. There are many to choose from and I’m not done with Mr. Winslow yet.

And then he knew
It was true
Made him think
My face turned pink
It was after all
My own call
The particular paper
With perfumed vapor
The distinctive ink
Completing the link
And he smiled as he knew
‘‘Twas me who drew
That perfumed heart
Wished a new start—
A hope to retrieve
What my mind believed.

Prompt: Write a poem about truth.
This poem is from 2020:
Abide with me, a popular hymn
Sung as a child with no unworthiness contemplated
Sure of comfort and protection from above, walking in the light.
True life experience, seeing unholiness surround,
Lack of love and kindness for each other
To truly abide seems lost.

“Hearts and Bones is a 2019 Australian drama film directed and co-written by Ben Lawrence. The film follows a war photographer and a refugee. It stars Hugo Weaving, Andrew Luri, Hayley McElhinney and Bolude Watson.” (Wikipedia)
“Photographer Daniel Fisher prepares for an exhibition of his war images, and is appealed to by a refugee to exclude images of a massacre which wiped out his home.”

Children are masters of manipulation
In childhood we received compensation
For a job well done…we would exaggerate
On the work involved and time it would take
A quick recovery was often supplied
(Reward from grandparents on the side)

warm and cozy place
nowhere else I’d rather be
quiet reflections
surrounded by soft and peace
happiness in the repose
