Tuesday 5

Tea is not my favorite but I have enjoyed these:

1. Plain fresh brewed black tea, iced.

2. Peach.

3. Orange spice.

4. Plantation mint.

5. Years ago while on weight watchers, I had chocolate mint tea.

Fandango’s Story Starter

This week’s Story Starter teaser is: IT WAS EARLY IN THE MORNING, JUST AFTER THE CRACK OF DAWN, WHEN I HEARD THE INSISTENT KNOCKING AT MY DOOR AND I IMMEDIATELY KNEW…it was not a false alarm. . .The fire engine pulled up, lights blazing and no siren. It was almost an every day occurrence in the area where I lived. Reluctantly I got out of bed, threw on my robe and looked out the peephole of my door. Sure enough there was a firefighter in full gear and even a big mask. “There’s been a gas leak, come with me now. You have to leave the building.”

The Tree

Joe loved Christmas and the first thing he did after Thanksgiving was push in and set up the big spruce tree. His spouse, Sue, walked into the room and remarked, what a lovely smell! The plant’s fresh fronds produced a beautiful evergreen scent, the needed source to start their favorite holiday. It was the start of laborious decorating.

Simply Six Minutes

“I knew this was going to happen. I said to him, Joe, that’s a bad idea, but you know Joe, he never listens! It’s an impossible task and even if you do rent that crane it’s going to cost thousands! That much money for a temporary joke, not worth it, but you know him…so here we are, standing in front of this so called snow sculpture and waiting for the rest of Joe’s creation, praying the temperature stays below freezing til Joe shows up with more of the body. I said to him, Joe, just do the feet, it will still be funny, but you know Joe, never satisfied! After thirty-five years he still thinks he can do standup…no pun intended.” Muriel laughs.

Adrift

A lantern showing light and dark reality drifts on the edge of my mind like a ship’s barrel that fell overboard, as it dodges the shoreline, wanting to escape its finale. There is a crevice between remarkable provenance and the actual hard landing on a rocky shore only to have wooden staves break apart.

Sweet as candy, heard him say
Thinking I like his wordplay
Twice around the evergreen
Following me, his ardor seen
I’m not sweet, I denied
It is your heart, he replied
A sugar plum, I know it well
I guess only time will tell.

3TC + Yams

“You assume that rosemary might be a tasty ingredient to add to the sweet potatoes? We’ve always added butter and marshmallows to them and baked. I guess you can refurbish the recipe this year, maybe it will be the star of the menu! There’s always plenty of unimaginative items offered, like the roll of gelled cranberry sauce straight from the can…Better yet, why not triple that new recipe and we’ll give the surplus pans to the food bank?”
