Anyway, there are eight days left before the big day and I haven’t wrapped a thing.🙄 Every year it seems harder to get into a Christmas spirit. I think it began in 2013 after my husband died in July and since he was the grandkids’ favorite jokester, it felt like the spirit balloon popped. Then a year later we all moved away from our small town and into Wyoming. It was culture shock for sure.

But we have survived some big obstacles since and we’re still here, putting up lights, giving small gifts and probably will forego the frosted cookie baking since one of the kids is two thousand miles away. That will be hard, because Christmas is her favorite thing all year round. We will gather and play games, eat lots and laugh more, anyway.

She was there, a place she hated, just to appease her husband’s mind. He sat there, silent, thinking this end of year appointment would obtain a rebate on his taxes. Of course that thinking was rubbish.
