Here you are just for today

Usually a million miles away

You travel here

I travel there

The distance between us isn’t fair

Why other couples seem to meet

On a closeby storefront street

And we can only speak online

But because of love, it will be fine.

“No apology, I guess”, the guard said as he replaced the sign over the entry exactly where it belonged, doing so in an overly precise manner hoping they would get the point. He was familiar with the young pranksters, and used to their tricks. Surprised by a bell’s chime indicating the master needed him, the guard went inside. The high black door frame was secured once again, but the visitors didn’t leave. They persisted with a hard knock, displacing the sign once again and summoning the guard. Halloween was long past, but the visitors persisted.

white falling snow, your beauty amazes, a soft blanket to cover

chilled cheeks pink hued, children don’t mind the cold, mittens are not thick enough

icicles drip, inviting young thirsties, hot chocolate works better

marshmallows bob, sweet hot drinks are warming, now it’s time to sled again

dVerse Poets Prosery

Looking a little bit through her lyrics I did not choose one from her latest record even if its name is “The Tortured Poets Department” (which could almost be a name for a poetry site like ours).
Instead I found this line
“You drew stars around my scars”
from the song Cardigan taken from her record Folklore.

You should write a piece of prose including the given line which you may punctuate or break up if you want, but every word in the same order has to be included in a piece of prose (fiction or non-fiction) of maximum 144 word (or if you want to challenge yourself exactly 144 words).

When you have written your prose/story, post it to your blog, link back to dVerse, enter the link to your blog-post to Mr Linky below and join me and the others reading and commenting on the other stories. It’s a blast actually so remember having fun.

I didn’t realize at the time, what others might think of my looks. Before I had the illness, I felt pretty much okay with a small one. Never thinking I would find myself disrobing except for an X-ray, and not planning to be with a lover again, it wasn’t on my mind. And then, I met you. Recuperating and wanting an outlet for my time, I met you. You told me you loved me and were so romantic, something even though married many years, I never had that side of love. I finally admitted my health concerns and was surprised when it didn’t seem to matter. “You drew stars around my scars” and I’ll always be grateful.

SYW 12-2-24

My favorite Christmas memory is rgetting a little red rocking chair. It disappeared in our move from the dairy farm to a tiny two bedroom apartment, at my age of 14.

Personally, I buy gifts all year long.

This year I am, but a couple of years no. Don’t ask me why, I don’t know.

There are a few. I guess repetition starting in October turns me off. I rarely listen to music anymore. Two days ago however I decided I would wrap presents that I had bought – I still need four😉 My little tree in the corner, even though it had lights and decorations on it, looked a little lonely, so I decided to wrap some presents to put under it. I don’t have a radio so I turned on a channel that was supposed to be Christmas music on my TV and of course there were commercials. I hate commercials anytime, anywhere, any kind and I usually do not buy the products, it’s my little protest.

Gratitude: I am grateful that my family that went to Las Vegas for a soccer Tournament made it over there and back safely. It was a 12 hour trip each way. I have not responded to a few emails and posts because I’m having technical issues. And of course over the weekend no one is open to help. I’m actually grateful that Thanksgiving is over and that all the businesses are returning to normal. And as ever I am grateful for my family and my blogging family. I appreciate every like and comment. Thank you.
