Have you ever forgotten about something important, like an appointment or meeting? Maybe you’ve forgotten your keys in the car and needed to call a locksmith. Ever had a word on the tip of your tongue but couldn’t think of (remember) it? Perhaps there’s something or someone you’d rather forget.
For this week’s challenge, let’s write syllabic poetry about forgetting. Choose a syllabic form from the list, and incorporate something you forgot into your poem. Don’t forget: if you write a free verse poem, you must include a syllabic form with it!

Haibun:
I live in an apartment complex for fifty five and over adults. There are about half who are older or more disabled than me. The friend who once in a while I play cards with, turned ninety four last weekend. The funny thing was, the date is forever etched in my mind because my mom died on that date, 7-31, sixty years ago in fact. So maybe I was so fixed on her I forgot his birthday party.

hugs yes, you probably were so focused on the date, what it signifies for you, with your mom’s death on that date, easy to forget!
