Julie turned her shoulder away from Joe. She felt betrayed by his lack of pride for her completing the task. So many steps she had climbed to join in and share his friend’s activities. Where was the care and pleasure of sharing her feelings of accomplishment? Was he hiding envy? She missed his usual kind demeanor.
