“A Patch of Old Snow” written by Robert Frost is my inspiration for this poem, a zuihtsu. The line is, “There’s a patch of old snow in a corner…” The snow is compared to a piece of paper.

Old snow, why don’t you melt away

Ensuring

The street beauty as spring rains

Wash away the grimy aftermath of a storm

Lovely white snow storms don’t linger

Only as a dirty reminder of what winter was.
