  3. Hmmmm ….. I have spoken strenuously elsewhere about my objections to eastern culture being mangled by western minds and one need look no further than haiku to see how cringeworthy this can become.
    Now I believe that ‘tanka’ is supposed to be in the syllabic form of 5,7,4,7,7 (making the ludicrous assumption that the word syllable itself translates sensibly between Japanese and English) so …… I am happy to see, as a fellow Virgo, that you have chosen to ignore it. Good for you! Nobody’s going to tell we Virgos what to do.
    All that said, just to prove a point, I tried to comply. And look what a mess came out!!!

    We are secretly obscene
    Others still jealous
    Clearly envious with green
    Of all the colours we’ve seen
