I suppose we oldsters are to be envied
Not herding children that are frenzied
Christmas and all the rush
Everyone thinking that they must
Do all they think is required
All the actions get mired
Into one big holiday frenzy
Not anything I envy
But there is that nostalgia thing
Where school choirs did sing
Plays and performances cute
I do miss them, no dispute
It’s just not the same without them
I better quit before I’m glum
I still love Christmas to come
Shopping can make me go numb
But all in all I love these days
Observing is now my way.

Yes, so true…none of the rushing around, hiding gifts…but like you say, I miss hearing little kids happily belting out Christmas tunes and even when I decide to watch them, the old Christmas shows don’t seem as magical. I’ll take this though over little kids and house hopping.
