Friday Fictioneers

***

The old man took his time, his cane getting stuck between the cobblestones, but he was used to it. It was probably his fiftieth year traveling to this old homestead, mostly just a ruin now. Today was the anniversary of his walking up this street with his soon to be wife, Helen. The church was still standing at the top of the walkway and every year he goes in and sits a while. His mind then travels back many years and he envisions himself and Helen at the altar, full of nervous twitches and jelly legs. A tear he can’t help, runs down his cheek and he just sits back letting memories flow in his mind of their life together.
