Joe was throwing evidence and the game
Joe, an aging athlete, talent’s not the same
As when he was point guard, strong and able
Now he’s getting paid under the table
To fix the score, and outcomes even more
The fans who used to adore
Now sad seeing Joe’s demise on the floor.

I don’t think this is an example of the zeugma, 🙄
Zeugmatically Speaking
Desperation makes cheats in sport, a cautionary tale.

It is a tricky concept but I agree with the consensus and this definitely passes muster…

It’s a tough idea to get more than one instance of zeugma in a stanza I think.

It should be easy I guess when you see the examples, but I didn’t find it so🤓

I am sure that first line is a zeugma, as a reader of your verse, and no grammar police is going to say nowt…. V nice verse…,those terrible moments when you just don’t make the cut anymore, but are still out there, one last try…

I guess it depends on technicalities, what’s the evidence?😅 Is it figurative or not. “Throwing the game” is. Someone could be physically fixing the score, but not really the outcome. So I think you’re getting the idea!❤️🙏🏻

I hoped it was. Seemed like
“ throwing”the game was too much but was implied
