Ovi Poetry – Dance

The Ovi are in general, lyrical folk songs expressing love, social irony, and heroic events. They are written in the following scheme.

4 line stanzas, as few as one stanza and up to as many as you like.

8 syllables or less per line

Rhyming is AAAb. The second stanza would be CCCd. The third, EEEf. And so on. Meaning nothing in one stanza must rhyme with anything in the previous stanza. The fourth line does not rhyme.

***

the tango’s early days discreet
closeness always, even their feet
later versions were more complete
erotic sensual emotions on display
dancing first in depressed lodging
evolved into a sensual “dodging”
seen often with bodies shocking
never a more heated dance display

  1. I hope I did this right?

Under moon’s tender glow, they meet,
In shadows soft, where hearts beat,
Steps light as dreams, quick and fleet,
    Fandango’s breath.

    Guitar strings hum, voices rise,
Tales of old under night skies,
In the dance, truth never lies,
    They find their way.

    Swirling skirts paint stories bold,
Hands and hearts in rhythm told,
    Heat and passion uncontrolled,
    Night’s fiery play.

Eyes that speak of love and fate,
    Moments caught, the hour late,
    In each turn, they celebrate,
    Silent whispers.

Through the years, the dance remains,
    Binding hearts with unseen chains,
In its steps, no sorrow reigns,
    Timeless embrace.
