My first time speaking in front of more than a few people was giving the opening speech at the State PTA annual convention. Of course I was nervous but I was proud to hold the office since I had started out as a member parent and worked myself up with different jobs I considered worthy and an honor. I believe the PTAs and PTOs do great work in our schools and deserve to be recognized as an important part of the education system.
