Having a huge attic of immeasurable treasures, imagination was rampant in my childhood.

the possibilities amass
when you imagine
riding horses as old cowboys
quiet reading was always a joy
tented blankets on the floor
listening to victrola seventy-eight scores
what child could ask for more?

Come play with me!
O my – the victrola – my parents had one!! This certainly stirs my imagination.

I think most of my childhood was imaginative play, they miss out on so much now – I wonder what poetry will be like in 50 years …..!

so many treasures may still be resting on attics… but alas it is drowning in rubish in many cases

I loved all of those things, Cheryl, especially reading and blanket tents!

Imagination created from scratch. Many of today’s kids aren’t allowed that luxury. It’s all pre-digested electronica :(

I agree, we had it all… Your are dating yourself with the victrola and 78 records! :>) I remember them too.

This is delightful! I connect with so much of it…..most especially these words
“tented blankets on the floor
listening to victrola seventy-eight scores”
78 and 33 1/3 vinyl records….those were the days. And yes: I’d strip my bed and move furniture around and then cover it with the blankets and sheets…pulling chairs in from the kitchen. As a mom and grandmother, I also made tents like this for our kids and grandkids. So fun what a little imagination can do!
