dVerse Poets – Poetics

Cats

Pretending to be a friend

Sneaking onto the blanket only just rid of fur

Laying innocently on your lap

A sound heard, from the kitchen?

The can opener whirls

Fishy odors drift into the lair

Her nails are out in an elongated stretch

Not meaning (really?) to mar her perch

Leaps into a pleasing manner below the bearer of tuna.

  1. First and foremost, I LOVE the poem and it seems to me, you’ve described cats to a T! I do see you’ve had some trouble with linking your poem. I think you’ve posted it to the wrong Mr. Linky on the wrong prompt. The prompt for this Mr. Linky is the 11 line poem with first lines all taken from the first line of the first verse of one poem from each month of 2023. Perhaps this poem was for the prompt before?

  2. Poems are formed as unpredictably as cats with their ends, their desires, is what I’m reading here, Cheryl. So true. By the way, can you re-post your link on Mr. Linky? The original does not work. (Thanks)
