Never heard a compliment
From anyone who was giving
At least until her daddy
Had ceased his unkind living
Plagued in her young years
Suffering unimagined fears
Was not until her thirty year’s day
When she met a man who would say
The things she always longed to hear
And she listened without fear
A man who could dry the tears
From voices heard on tender ears
She learned love comes in many forms
And hateful speech is not the norm.
