dVerse Poets Quadrille – Wound

You wound me with your indiscretion

Offered to you as an openness with a private truth

Of you, and me.

I must have been under a magical spell when I spoke to you

Entreating your trust

I wound up being your regretful scapegoat instead.

  1. A clever omission of what I might consider to be the most obvious use of wound, but indeed, that is the poem itself – a wound reflected upon. Elegantly done.

  2. It’s so sad when we make the brave decision to trust somebody and they then betray that trust. Really the betrayer is the coward and the truthful person is courageous.

  3. Oh dear. Sounds like a relationship that did not have a very strong foundation to begin with. Being a scapegoat is definitely not fun nor is it a part of love.
