Remembering Mom

My heart sheds a tear

When old memories

Come to the surface

Never replaced

They cause a blip in the calm seas of present-day

A small bubble disturbing, sometimes calming

Overshadowing the here and now we choose to live

Always nearby but kept by the side

Until a word or phrase or calendar date

Stirs the mind, and the feeling of a loss or a laugh shared,

returns.
