Waste of Youth

Sitting in the doorway, mother by her side

Evicted by authority

Now they have no place to hide

Small dirty belongings surround them

All that they could grab

Before forcibly removed from what they used to have

This is her future and her past

No childhood dreams of a ballet dance

She’s nine years old and she never had a chance.
