“Don’t worry, this won’t take long.” The detective checks the cuffs on her hands, and adjusts the probing light so it is squarely on her pale face. He was now ready to conduct the interview of the suspect.
She struggles and asks for the cuffs to be removed. “I didn’t do it!” Seeing she was not going to be believed, added, “it was self defense! He was going to kill me!”
“Sorry, they’re designed to keep us both safe.” He gives a side glance to his police companion and whispers, “if I had a dime for every person who thought their crime was justified, I’d be rich.”
Detective Jones knew any cop worth their salt would never let the criminal have the upper hand. Lieutenant James chimed in with, “Just the facts, ma’am, tell us how you killed him.”
