B and B Wannabees

The new fashioned heels caused her to look tipsy as she navigated the slippery wooden deck. Why did I think a yacht would be a good place to wear these? “Careful there schweethart,” George said in his best Bogey voice. Julie smiled, loving the way he treated her, as though they were Bogey and Bacall. In fact that was her first impression of him, meeting in a cafe resembling Rick’s in Casablanca.

Most of her life, Julie had lived in a movie dream world. Every situation, person she met, she related to a movie scene or character. She was enamored of actors of the thirties, and tried to emulate them in everyday life. Most of the time her coworkers thought she was odd, but accepted her as she did her job well.

Julie frequented nostalgic places of business, and her main entertainment was going to the refurbished cinema that showed the films of her favorite genre. This was where she met George, also a thirties fanatic, and the romance began. Today they were on a nostalgic adventure cruise and everything seemed to be authentic. She and George dressed in their finest, pretending to be that perfect couple they adored.

That evening Julie thought she’d take the theme further. As she was leaving their cabin, hoping he wouldn’t think her silly, whispered in her best sultry voice, “If you need me, just whistle. You know how to whistle, don’t you, George? You just put your lips together and blow”.
