FFF #24 – Google Me

“She said it was on the east coast, yup, right here, I found it!” Joe was excited as he was planning a trip to meet his dreamed of lady. At least he thought she might be; he needed to meet her in person to see. Joe’s sister Helen wasn’t so sure as he seemed to be, and thought he might be scammed.

Joe had been fooling around on the Internet looking at photos on the Fab50 site. He had been single for too long and now felt he needed companionship in his life. Meeting the guys for drinks and watching ball games just wasn’t enough anymore. Joe had dated a few women he liked but was never in love.

On the dating site he saw a woman who stirred new feelings in him and he was determined to meet her in person. He was looking forward to the road trip and had a perfectly restored Mustang for the ride. His sister was worried about him, offered to join him, but his answer was no. “Who wants your sister along on a date?” Joe told her but it didn’t quell her thoughts.

Sadie was also a lonely fifty-something and thought Joe looked interesting on the site, and also wanted a worthy mate to spend the rest of her life. Could Joe be the one she had been looking for, possibly a soulmate? Sadie often wondered if such a thing existed. A few times she saw a glimmer in someone, but it never lasted.

Joe pulled up to the address Sadie had provided. The apartment building was old and rundown. He felt disappointed and not sure why he was. He knocked on apartment 222 and waited. As Sadie opened the door, he was surprised. She was prettier than her website photo and as he was ushered in, he was aware of her perfectly neat living area. The outside of the building was the opposite of her rooms inside.

Sadie took his arm and steered him to an overstuffed wing chair. He fell into the softness, relieved to be sitting on something other than a leather car seat. Sadie went to the kitchen area and retrieved a perfect tea set complete with cookies. It was after she sat opposite him that they both took a deep breath.
