My sister does genealogy and found we are related to Ragnar Lothbrok who I fell in love with portrayed by Travis Fimmel on the History channel’s series “Vikings”. At initial parts of the series, they followed the episodes with real scientists researching Viking history. The Lothbrok character did exist in real life, as did the character Rollo. The series was enjoyable at first but stopped showing the actual history after the episodes and then increasingly violent especially as the character Ivar grew up.
We went to see the exhibit “Vikings” at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. It was somewhat disappointing as we longed to see an actual ship they used. The items most interesting to us were actual tools, swords, jewelry and implements they used.

The series was brutal.

Yes, I felt that too.

I haven’t seen Vikings yet, but I HAVE seen Norseman, which is like a cross between Vikings and Monty Python. Very cool that your sister was able to trace your ancestry so far back!

She has traced it to a king of Turkey in the second century.

This is interesting. You can get more history on Rolo, as he was the ancestor of William the conquer.

My sister and I have just ordered a kit from Ancestry to find out our origins through our genes. 🤗
