I saw brown mush in a bowl of blue

“Eat up, it’s great, it’s called bulgur.”

Tried it, but the taste was vulgar.

“You young people,” sounding wise,

“Need to eat better,” he advised.

“Bulgur wheat is a fine staple

Add some syrup, maybe maple?”

Wheat I like when it’s in bread

This mushy stuff I really dread

“It’s been around for years and years.”

They probably liked it after many beers.

Argument over, I pushed it aside

Left the room with a quickened stride.
