First Date

White teeth and sparkling blue eyes

Two things that might have caused my demise

Old lengthy blue pontiac he drove by

Wavy black hair caught my eye

The car was worn it was plain to see

But the bench front seat was useful to me

Snuggling close to the driver so bold

The drive-in dates never got old

Freedom of the sixties for both of us

Young and in love made everything just

The future was in the palm of our hand

First date at a dance with a band

“Scotch and soda” played slow and sweet

I could hardly feel my feet

Holding me close with each sway

Thought heaven on earth I found that day

A late dinner with my first glass of wine

My head was swimming, it was divine.
