The three girls stood over the victim. Only one didn’t have a smile. She and the girl laying on the gym floor had been best friends in eighth grade. Now a year later, she hardly recognized her.
The team manager came running over.“Heavens to betsy, why’d you do that?”
“She deserved it! She’s been shoving, pushing, and elbowing us all week. We finally decided to fight back. She may be the top scorer, but she is mean!”
The girl on the floor stood up dizzily. The coach helped her to the side. This event finally made him take better control of his young athletes.
