“Sergeant of the Guard:The Road in Iraq” by R. Morgan Chrihfield
Joe was speaking to his Sergeant about the current news. . .There’s “flaws in the system I witnessed, I was a better person for having” seen it for myself.
Joe was worried about the future of the people in this country. They had arrived to help, save lives of the innocent, and yet at times it seemed futile. They were not getting the support they needed from back home.
“It’s always been this way, Joe. Some bigwig makes a decision with no knowledge of actual war or combat, and plays with our lives like we’re in a video game. It’s terrible what’s happening to people like this around the world, but we can only follow orders.”
