The brothers moseyed down the aisle and sat across from this post to get a better look at it. “I didn’t think he looked that bad, did you?”
“Nope, but I wasn’t the one carving it either.”
Joe shifted around in his seat to stare at it. “God, he looks pretty tired.”
“Well he is dead.” Jack pushed himself up and walked to another pew to sit. Joe took one last gander at his deceased friend, James, and joined his brother.
“I’m glad we never donated much to this church. We’d be a fine sight to see!” The two men shared a quiet chuckle as the minister reached the pulpit.
“Good day everyone! I hope you all noticed the carving of James, one of our most generous parishioners.”
