Do you have everything on a calendar or on your phone or computer, such as important reminders? I have almost all bills taken out of my bank as EFTs. That way I don’t need stamps, or have to roll up to the other end of the apartment complex in snow or ice to mail any checks. EFTs are easy but also require reminders of odd ones such as a quarterly insurance bill or what happened this week.

This is a tough month but no worries, it’s going to get better. I plan out my whole debit and credit every month and forgot a yearly debit for a safety deposit box. Not bad, but 90 dollars is not a discretionary expenditure. We visited the box this fall trying to find some missing papers we needed. At that time we removed most everything of importance from the box.

Why we didn’t close it then you ask? Stupidity is the answer–that and not remembering when the bill for it was due. I tried calling the bank and asking why I wasn’t sent a reminder for this expense. No help. Asked if I could empty the box immediately and receive a prorated refund. No help. His answer was he could help me close it this week if I wanted. I put it on next year’s calendar to empty it out in the summer when everyone is less busy.

So I guess I’m reminding you to remind yourselves of oddly timed expenses, especially if you’re on a limited income and use EFTs. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ™πŸΌπŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ
