We were gathered to congratulate
With an illuminated cake
A most auspicious occasion
A party for a septuagenarian
Turning seventy was a feat
But this woman didn’t bow in defeat
Turning sixty was a treat
And ten years later, extremely neat.
The gift of life is to be admired
Enjoying it is also desired.
