One lonely lantern sat on the porch
Sitting quiet after a long night
His candle was melted
The dawn of the sun didn’t need him but last night he was brave
That was his job, being the watcher on the porch
A light for saying no evil darkness may threaten here
Monsters beware, wildlings scatter
This is my home, only the true and good may enter.
Later in the day as thunder and dark clouds interrupt the sunlight he will be asked to serve again with a newly made candle standing upright and lighted.
The child within will feel no fear as her protector shines bright.
