A word that lawyers often hate
I’m talking about negotiate
They would rather up the bond
For their benefit and beyond
If involved in dispute
Be careful to recruit
A barrister of good repute
One that cares and not refute
The basic tenets of established law
But take as written, observed in awe
Studious lawyers are the best
Discard the fancy and the rest
One eager to negotiate what’s fair
From their seat beside you there.
