“Can you come here for a second?” My little brother yelled to me.
I sat on the stone wall and swung my legs over. We were playing in the field and I had run to catch up with Joey. He was standing next to a deer. Blood was oozing onto the grass where she lay. Joey’s face was red and full of tears. “What can we do?”
I thought the doe was dead already but Joey didn’t want to accept it. I went over to him and put my arms around him. “It’s too late” I said. “Let’s go home and see if Grampa will help us bury it”.
Joey wiped his face and took my hand as we sadly walked home.
