September 25. Write a story in 75 words or less about an encounter with a stranger.
Waiting for the bus at the VA, saw a man with braces on both legs and a cane. He was reading a book I loved, so I took the opportunity to start a conversation. He was a veteran with PTSD and told me of encounters with the public, impatient with his inability to move fast enough. He was a strong, capable man who didn’t receive the respect he deserved. Sometimes you just need to listen.
