You could always count on that girl, Iris. She and her Penny-Gush of the day. Her imagination knew no peak of limitation. If someone was feeling insignificant she would lavish one of her wonderful tales on them. It worked most of the time, and mutable responses caused her to reflect only on the really successful ones. She certainly had a knack for writing and telling stories.
The teacher of the creative writing class recognized her talents. She would assign projects she knew would tempt her “A” student to do her best. Meanwhile, the lesser endowed students might grovel for the teacher’s attention. Iris was not selfish with her ability, she loved helping the other students, suggesting ideas if they were stymied by an assignment. Unlike the normal class situation, Iris’s classmates welcomed her advice, and enjoyed her stories as well.
