A memory I will share is my wedding day. It was the hottest day in July for many years. No air conditioning in those days, 1966. My mom and my aunt were making my wedding cake and it was beautiful, not overly done or fancy. I wore my bathing suit all morning I was so hot. My husband-to-be was picked up early by my sister and brother in law to dress at their house. My other sister helped me dress up in my bedroom. We all piled into my dad’s car and drove to the small church I attended. I remember I was hoping no one noticed my legs shaking as I walked down the aisle with my dad. Of course, their shaking at the altar was visible. Everything was like a dream of sorts. I didn’t really notice people in the pews, or even what we said. I was just wanting to be married to this man I loved and nothing else mattered. I had no issues as women do these days, with arrangements or dress fittings, flowers, venues, etc. Neither one of us even cared who was there, as long as we were.

When I got married in 1975, it was simple. When I re-married in 2007, it was simpler still. I save the fuss for the marriage. 😉 xoM

Great glance into the past. Getting married was more difficult than I thought it would be.
