Veg-o-matic or Coffee Grinder?

Apartment living takes some getting used to. After two years here, I’m no longer bothered by the daily noises. It’s actually a matter of convenience. There’s no need to look at the clock. Every evening around 12:00-2:00a.m. the motorcycle guy rumbles in, maybe he’s a bartender. At 3:00a.m. another neighbor uses a Vegomatic, or a loud coffee grinder. They either never have a day off or like an early day at the gym. On Tuesday, Thursday and even Saturday, the garbage pickup trucks roll in at 6:00a.m. I’m conveniently located about thirty feet from the dumpsters. Some time in between 5:00 and 7:00a.m. the people above me drop a shoe, baby bottle or large dog toy on their floor, my ceiling.  They have a large dog, or maybe they sleep with their boots on? Headlights light up the bedroom window at various times all night because it’s against the rules to back-in to the parking spaces. We’re supposed to be quiet between 10:00-8:00a.m. Optimal sleeping is between 7:00 and 11:00a.m. Everyone has left for work, or school, late shift workers are sleeping, and my family wonders why I sleep in till about 11:00. Maybe I’ll forward this blog to them.

  1. I rented an apartment many, many years ago that backed up to a line of beautiful greenery. The apartment was on the corner so I had windows on three sides. I thought it was great! Until the night I moved in and discovered the greenery was there to hide train tracks. Every night, several times a night trains would rumble through, lights shining through the windows, and scare the heck out of me. Oh..and they blew their whistles both ways because of the roads that were on either side of the complex. Joy.

    1. Uh, no. I don’t know who, it is but the designer of these apartments must put a kitchen adjacent to another’s bedroom wall. Guess I’ll have to check your site since people I follow don’t show up in the Reader.🙄😊

    2. It’s a good way to meet the neighbours 🙂

My site is full of dribble, maybe that’s why the reader had banned it 🙂 Although in saying that my site has been turning up in my reader since I had the rant.
