Joe gently ruffed up the collar of his jacket and donned his prayer boots, damp from a scrape with the mailman earlier. He noticed he felt stiff and looked pale after this altercation, so decided a trip to church was due. He felt a shiver down his spine as he suddenly realized exactly what had and had not happened.
He was just leaning against a street lamp when he decided to stop the mailman on his route to see if he’d gotten any letters. Apparently the mailman thought he was being accosted, and awkwardly pushed Joe back against the metal lamp. Joe didn’t hesitate as he reacted quickly.
Then both men glanced around them, seeing that an audience appeared. It ended in an embarrassed expression on both their faces, and muttered apologies.
Joe offered the mailman a spot of tea, and put on the kettle with a tray of biscuits. The mailman was happy for the break from the rainy morning route. On the table below his teacup, Joe read the ironic newspaper headlines – “Thugs Are On The Street – Beware”. They both had a laugh.

They were exiting the hotel after a raucous bingo game and saw an orange chicken cross their path. “Oh my” remarked Jinger, “that chicken looks frantic and my ears can’t stand that squawking!”
“Well this is where cults practice voodoo…maybe it’s running for its life!” The couple took a long look in both directions and decided to head back inside.

your dress is too loud
hurts my ears
the pattern too wild
my eyeglasses take offense
please change into something calm
muted colors are the norm
can’t see you through the noise

Meeting the Bar: Lens of Synesthesia
Share Your World June 19, 2017
It’s Share Your World Monday again, so come on, join us! Cee at ceenphotography.com welcomes all to this posting. So jump in! This week’s questions are: 1. What is something people are obsessed with that you just don’t get? For me it has to be fishing. I don’t like it. It’s boring, it smells, you get icky if you bait a hook (icky being a technical term). I think catch and release is like torture for the fish. Some of this relates to being forced to sit in a small boat in hot and humid weather, with my parents while they enjoyed fishing. This happened often. Not to be rude, but I hated it.
2. What quirky things do people do where you are from? People in Wyoming are a bit quirky about the use of firearms. But one thing that has stood out for my family is: no driver seems to be able to figure out how to navigate a roundabout. They either sit at the yield thinking it’s a stop sign, or can’t figure out which direction they are going in or want to be going in, or they blast ahead ignoring everyone else
. 3. What things would you unlearn? I would unlearn being critical of myself. I would be able to look at myself in the mirror and think, “you are ok”.
4. Who is someone you miss having in your life? I miss a couple of good friends that I live far away from now. They made life much easier and more fun. 5. What are you grateful for from last week and what are you looking forward to this week? I’m always grateful for time spent with my grandkids, but this week I spent some alone time with my daughter which was very special. I am grateful my grandson is home from youth camp so we can spend some time together. One thing he said today as he dropped off my mail surprised me. I asked what he enjoyed most at the camp after he spoke about the activities of, swimming, rope challenge, zipline, singing, music, games, etc. He answered, the group discussions about life and Jesus. At seventeen I always knew he had a soft heart, but I guess he’s also an old soul. 💞 http://ceenphotography.com/2017/06/19/share-your-world-june-19-2017/

Fandango’s Flashback Friday — June 27th

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS June 28, 2025

The walls are high, insurmountable
The bridge is inaccessible
How do we meet these challenges –
Only in our imagination?
Problems are icy barriers
Quiet reflection thaws them
Slowly only, think of solutions
Finds the answers you need.

It seems impossible, reaching out to help others, but they are also wanting your contact, so stretch your imagination, accept the differences.

Joe realized that learning to play a guitar was not as easy as it looks. After four sessions with the music teacher, his thumb was sore from strumming and his other fingers had blisters. Joe decided he wasn’t going to stick with it and crumpled up the sheet music from his teacher.

Two lizards sitin’ in a tree…oh no I didn’t! Just kidding folks, I think it’s my mindset today…a little off, a little weird…ever have those days? For entertainment I shuffled my winter and summer sock drawer and gave some too small slipper socks to my granddaughter. My family came last night, a rare visit to see my great granddaughter, Tavi, and she was much more friendly this time. I got a lecture from my grandson, the firefighter and my daughter about not wearing the “I’ve fallen and can’t ’”…You could hardly call it a necklace. I don’t think these two lizards would be too happy with it either. I wonder how they call for help if they need it? Those long curly tails probably save them from falls. Nature doesn’t leave things to chance.

I think the strength of this tiny flower brings the reader into its attitude of resilience and survival. Like the seeds of a dandelion, persistence dominates.
