Secret Lives of Everyday Objects
Imagine a world where everyday objects could talk. What would a conversation between a sentient coffee mug and a grumpy toaster sound like? Would your toaster be complaining about nobody ever cleaning out the crumbs that fell to the bottom, or would your coffee mug be dreaming about new latte art decorating designs that it is working on”

“You know you’re overloading me, don’t you? How do you expect my shortest cycle to get everything clean? I know you think you’re saving energy, but give me a break!”

I ignored the daily complaint from the dishwasher, and filled my coffee maker with water.

“I agree DW, she thinks overfilling my liquid space will give her more than two cups. The problem is her choice of mugs. Her favorite coffee mugs are large two cup capacity!”

“I don’t know what you’re complaining about, CM, if she doesn’t clean me soon, I’ll smoke her out of this apartment! She tries to prevent spills covering an old, should be thrown out cookie sheet with foil, but it doesn’t always work. She is scared to do the self cleaning button because she’s afraid the smoke alarm will come on. I can hardly blame her for that, that alarm is deafening! Meanwhile I get dirtier.”

“If you all don’t stop complaining, I’ll have you all replaced! And you know what that means…the dump!” All complainers just harrumphed.

Pingbacks don’t always work so leave your link in the comments so that I can respond to you directly and other bloggers can read your writings. Why not check out some of theirs while you’re there!
The challenge goes out around 6.00 am UK time, but pingbacks may not show immediately as they have to be approved manually and sometimes I’m late accessing my blog. I will get there, I promise!
Looking forward to reading your responses.

Your final three words for this week are:
HUMID
HOAX
HORRIBLE

“I can’t stand this horrible humid weather!” Sharon was tired all the time and had no energy to even make dinner. Her husband always thought there was a conspiracy of some kind going on, and remarked, “Don’t worry my dear, it won’t last long, Snopes declared it a hoax!”

Can You Tell a Story in 70?

“Yes, I can do Pilates”, demonstrating the plank exercise to the critically bold stranger. Later, Velvet and her husband were relaxing at home. Velvet took the vintage teapot, adorned with a dove, filled their cups. “It’s wonderful having you be my gladiator when that rude person challenged my ability. He saw the scab healing on my shin and decided I can’t do certain exercises. Thanks for sticking up for me.”

Can You Tell A Story In…

RXC Challenge 393

***

She kept the clock running backward, just to see which regrets would return first. It was an annual event, curse, helpful advice, could be either/or, determined by how she reacted. Suddenly the night before, on New Year’s Eve, and the clock was still running correctly forward, she saw the image of herself. Standing on the edge of the bridge, teetering on the railing, her mind full of regrets. Deciding to jump or not, she chose not. Promising herself that the next day, start of the new year, she would watch the clock and renew faith in herself. Curling up on her sofa, the clock spun the regret visions as she vowed to change. Her disposition would now be to throw the clock when it was finished, and never use such a device again. A bright more caring and knowledgeable future ahead.
