Simply Six Minutes

Speaking as a feline and not an expert

This tattooing is quite overt

Not my choice, certainly, dear

I was drugged and woke up here.

Some people think a pet is theirs

To cuddle up in soft leather chairs

Of course that would be ideal

But my inked body does reveal

The type of owner no animal needs

Even though they water and feed

The type of people who pitterpatter

About their pets is a loving matter

No need to show their dexterity

Or thoughts they’re giving a charity

All animals and humans agree

A loving hand is all they need.

dVerse Poets

For today’s prompt, let’s write about sharks. You may choose to include them in your poem however you wish. Perhaps you’re in debt to a loan shark (I hope not), maybe in a past life you were a card shark, or maybe you love the movie, Jaws. Just use the word shark somewhere in your poem.
For extra credit, you may choose to write an ode to your shark subject: “A formal, often ceremonious lyric poem that addresses and often celebrates a person, place, thing, or idea.” This is not mandatory.
If you’re new, here is how to join us:
Write a poem in response to the prompt.
Enter your name and a link directly to the post containing your poem into Mr. Linky. Remember to check the box to accept use/privacy policy.
Read other poets’ work as they enter their links into Mr. Linky. Check back as more will be added.
Please link back to dVerse from your post.
Have a wonderful time!

here he comes with that awful smile

teeth displayed for at least a mile

friendly he’s not, likes to swat

you off your board, fly into the surf

where he can claim it’s his turf

then dips you up and sometimes down

intended not to make you drown,

but a plaything he’ll devour

when it’s time for his dinner hour.

Joe thought working out everyday would make him more attractive, so spared no efforts doing the perfect arm curl or the one arm board crest on the floor. It was this overdoing it that caused an arm to break resulting in a cast. Now Joe is taking some time off from the gym and gaining weight from boredom. Another pendulum swing.

Three Things Challenge #MM120

SYW July 14, 2025

***

Here are this week’s questions:

  1.  What kind of challenges in WordPress do you prefer? I like them all, especially the multi words.
  2.  If you were to host a challenge, what would it be? I can’t host, I don’t have a computer, but probably a multi word or poetry form
  3.  Do you miss the ‘Awards’ posts that were very popular years ago? Not really
  4. Do you think they were a good way to grow your blog followers and get you recognised? In the beginning I used my awards as a way to promote other blogs. Then it got to be too much and questions repetitive.
  5. Gratitude: Another safe trip to Spearfish, so all’s well.

MLMM Wordle

Jane’s daughter could be disappointing at times, like today…Jane thought she had designed the perfect room for Judy, her daughter. It even had a small space just for reading quietly. Judy took one look and inconsiderately described the room as cramped and not suitable for her “grownup”needs. Judy overlooked the fact her mother put so much work into the bedroom and turned on her noisy headphones, acting like an overgrown three year old.

Limerick Time

***

Henry had tons of allergies

Wasn’t a day without a sneeze

One day sneezed so hard

His air mowed his yard

Now he does the yard work with ease.

***

Julia was dressed up to please

The skirt barely covered her knees

Her beau was enamored

Too bad he’s not armored

She blew him away when she sneezed!

Such a fun word to use👍🏻😀
