MLMM Tale Weaver – Tremor

It was only a slight tremor. Hardly anyone noticed. The gatherings were small and secret. Momentum started when the leader gave his last self serving speech to his duped followers. Now the growing group was determined. Meetings were held, signs were made, and hopes were high. It was a strength in numbers protest, successful for a time, not easily discouraged, but the outcome was fruitless and dim. Most went back to their daily lives. It ended up only being a tremor.

JuJoJan 30 – Finished

My oldest grandson is getting married in June. It was suggested that I make something for the gift and since all of my crafty supplies are in storage, inaccessible, as it were. . .Dan, a note to Howell here. . .I went shopping. I have made many handcrafted gifts and am very proud of them, some now family heirlooms, I’m that old…

Deciding on old fashioned cotton tea towels with iron on stamped scenes I can embroider, I say I can, try to will arthritic fingers to work, the pressure is on. I’m not fond of pressure, but it is a loving project and I hope successful. We’ll see. Since his fiancé loves farms and cows in particular, one of the designs will be the cow on the upper left of the patterns above. A Holstein of course, my favorite. I’ll post a picture here when finished.

Three Line Tales 1-30-20

“Hey kids! Want to see a trick? This is how you can twirl a basketball using just one finger! But be warned, you can only do it for a second at a time.”

Their mother glares at the carnival worker. “That’s hardly a trick. Anyone can do it for a second!”

“Sure, but you see this tree growing on my arm? I used to be left handed.”

Fish Story

“It’s only an allegory, sweetheart. No one really died in the lake. You know how rumors get started in the country like this. Look how peaceful it is, especially this time of year, with the chill in the air. It will be completely covered in ice soon.”

Janet looked out over the lake and couldn’t help but feel a shiver. It seemed an ominous scene to her, neither pleasant or relaxing, but it was James’ idea to come for the weekend. James opened the dusty cabin and prepared a fire and the special bottle of cognac he brought. A simple dinner was quick and then they settled in for the night.

Being the dutiful wife of twenty-five years, Janet thought this attempt at a romantic getaway would spark something in her husband, but they quietly ate dinner, drank the cognac for dessert and went to bed. She assumed their lack of romance was due to the exhaustive drive to the remote cabin.

The next morning Janet felt a bit dizzy when she stood up from the bed. She had slept unusually well. James was outside getting the rowboat onshore that was previously hidden by the scraggly log. After some effort, he placed an oar on the side, some fishing equipment, and helped Janet into the boat. She asked about a life jacket since she was not a swimmer, and James looked at her with astonishment.

“What? Don’t you think I could save you if for some ridiculous reason you fell overboard? Just try to relax.” James had brought the cognac and a blanket into the boat and encouraged her to relax, sip the liquor and enjoy. He rowed out to the middle of the lake where ice was starting to form. Janet was freezing but kept sipping the drink to warm herself up. She felt so relaxed she thought she might fall asleep.

“Are you cold my dear?” James asked as he motioned for Janet to get the blanket he brought. As she rose up to grab the blanket, she lost her balance and fell out of the boat into the freezing water. James knew a body could only be in that temperature water for fifteen minutes. He busied himself with the fishing tackle.

MLMM Wordle#165

An unyielding puff of floral caused the allergy fettle to bloom. She proclaimed early on she was allergic to dogs and strong scents but the phrase must have fallen by the wayside as her beloved continued to wear an after shave lotion that would drive her eyes to water. Or maybe it was the amount he used. She had tried everything from copper bracelets to placing quartz crystals around the apartment, but nothing worked. She decided to buy stock in Kimberly-Clark.
