This week the theme is to find a song related to weather conditions of sunny, cloudy, windy, rainy, or stormy suggested by Nancy of the Elephant’s Trunk aka The Sicilian Storyteller. Try to use the prompt words or at least conform to a general theme, as you see it. If the song you select does not meet the criteria, then please explain why you chose this song.

This version is easier to hear, by Ella Fitzgerald, but Ethel Waters originally sang this song composed by Irving Berlin in 1933 for a broadway musical, “As Thousands Cheer”.
Verse) A heat wave was riding through town last week She came from the island of Martinique The can-can she dances will make you cry The can-can is really the reason why
(Chorus) We’re having a heat wave A tropical heat wave The temperature’s rising It isn’t surprising She certainly can can-
She started a heat wave By letting her seat wave And in such a way that The customers say that She certainly can can-can
Gee, her anatomy Makes the mercury Jump to ninety-three
We’re having a heat wave A tropical heat wave The way that she moves That thermometer proves That she certainly can can-can
Swing dancing is now a “thing”. It’s making a comeback in the competitive dancing world, but did it ever disappear? Comeback? Now there are many variations but the original form is still popular. The dance style has six basic moves, originating in Harlem jazz clubs in the 1920s. It’s hard to sit still when listening to the rhythm of “swing music”.
The sting of the bitter elixir hit her neck and frail hopes of escape faded. Curiosity disappeared into a facade of dreams, doubts of worthiness and strength once again clouded reality. Her body no longer restless, now had massive inability to move off the bed. She looked at the torn strip of gauze like materials that strapped her wrists to the cot. Her resolve gone, and sedatives her friends.
Holding up might be an appropriate action for our fire rescue department services after yesterday’s 75-100 mph winds. So loud and dangerous! Roads closed for many accidents and trees etc downed, a scary travel if needed. My electricity and internet all gone which is a reminder to keep phones charged. Mine ran out. My apartment was cold because I have the building’s 1950 style heater, air conditioner. The wind comes right in through it. All electric made me wish for my old house I moved from that had a gas stove so you could light the oven and burners to keep warm and even cook something. I have matches and candles but they were not used. So far today, things are cold but good. First soccer game tomorrow in inside facility, review pending☺️
Speaking of mood, my favorite song to dance to is “In the Mood”. I used to drag my husband from his group of men, (women didn’t know anything about the world of course) at parties and we would jitterbug. I probably lost a few of you with that😄. However, today I am in the no WiFi or electricity mood because the wind here is ruining everything with gusts of 100 mph and regular 50-70 that is going on for days.💨🌬️
