Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt 9-5-20

Considering myself a sentient being, empathetic to the people around me, probably too much so as a grandmother and mother; sometimes feelings overpower me. I try to be observant, caring, much wiser than I am, but it is difficult for me to be noncommittal or quiet in my opinions, if asked. I have learned to be asked and maybe that is enough. A loving family asks and consciousness offers my thoughts, however it’s only my personal life’s truth. Expressing my feelings without being harmful—that is love.

FOWC: Riveting

In practicing social distancing,

Joe was bored with fair to middling

Ventured out for something interesting

Went to a construction site worth visiting

Watching workmen on the roof hammering

Was quickly bored, his appetite tripling

At a hot dog vendor started nibbling

Over the taste and cost was quibbling

Mustard and ketchup started dribbling

Vendor upset and began shifting

His grilled wares, constantly sizzling

Then Joe suddenly stopped his piffling

Noticing the nearby site was signaling

About flying shingles they are witnessing

Landing too near the vendor, now sniveling

As he jumped back, saved and tingling

Now Joe realizes life can be riveting.

FOWC:Excuse and Word of the Day:Laughter

I couldn’t resist a video of Steve Martin in 1974 on the Johnny Carson show. Steve was famous for his “well, excuse me!” line. Before he became famous in movies, he wrote “Cruel Shoes” in 1979. In the 1960s he wrote for the “Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour”. He and Dan Ackroyd were “wild and crazy guys” on Saturday Night Live. He’s now well known as an actor, comedian, musician, author, filmmaker, and more.
