Laugh, nip, fix

I had to laugh when I turned fifty
My friends at work thought it was nifty
To give me a card that read
“Never let your coconuts fall below your grass skirt”
I admit that back then I thought it silly
Sent to other “fifties” willynilly
But as I age and accoutrements sag
I wish I had tried to fix those bags
To visit a surgeon for a slight nip
It’s now too late for such a trip.

Softness brushed my arm and I watched you approach the table, slinking into the chair smoothly as donning a silk glove, all vermillion lipsticked and curled sepia hair, your skin radiant gold in your plunging black velvet. You glanced back at me, invitingly, knowingly.
As I rose to join you, a gentleman drifted by me and sat with you. In the end, we were just a moment.
