Fandango’s Story Starter

It’s time for my weekly Story Starter prompt. Here’s how it works. Every Tuesday morning (my time), I’m going to give you an incomplete “teaser” sentence and your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to build a story (prose or poetry) around that partial sentence. It doesn’t have to be the first sentence in your story, and you don’t even have to use it in your post at all if you don’t want to. The purpose of the teaser is simply to spark your imagination and to get your storytelling juices flowing.
This week’s Story Starter teaser is:
Shaking, I grabbed her hand and said…

Shaking, I grabbed her hand and said, “cheese it, the cops!”

(Sorry, but it’s the first thing I thought of. We used this expression as kids.)😉

MLMM Wordle #267

***

It was a sad stroke of fate as Joe released his pressure on the gas pedal. The scared squirrel laid dying on the pavement, a redundant view on this country road. He didn’t see the creature, was going too fast because he was late—he was always late, and now he would be more so. His contribution to the annual family dinner was pies, the awesome concoctions made by his neighbor at the “Purely Pies” bakery she owned.

As he entered the family home he would settle in for the complete fit they would throw at him being late again. He expected them to complain as they did every year at Thanksgiving.

The Sunday Whirl

***

Her turquoise eyes submit the usual dissonance and this one female speaks to release the tension. The ordinary themes present in this awkward atmosphere promote false honesty, but I will stay with my own words to her. “How you doin’?”

She simply replies, “shh” and sits beside me.

Monday Peeve

Where should I start?

Delete now⚠️

Looking at an older post and it’s been half deleted? Having to re follow and re sign in every time I want to comment?

Waking up at five to cold and dark? Probably not but may be related—Cutting my finger badly so now both thumbs are painful and practically useless?

I can move into new place as planned on first but won’t be really finished till Christmas?

Having such a small keyboard on my phone I keep hitting I instead of O? (I think my subconscious is now controlling this😳🙄

Surrounded by boxes only to find all moving will be done in 24 hours on one day🤯

I’m not getting into the news at all, it would be overload 😟

Have a better week than I.

They watched the “trial”

“We watched the trial and thought the prosecution did a good job. But many things happened that prejudiced clear thinking right away. The judge acted erratically. Every now and then he would stop reading and look around as if trying to understand what he, himself was doing. He outlawed any referral to the dead people as ‘victims’. But he allowed the protesters to be called rioters. The charge of being underage and having an illegal gun was dropped, which is one thing maybe could have got Rittenhouse some prison time.”

“At one point as the judge was reading the very long instructions (on each charge) taking over an hour, he stopped. He looked puzzled. He then said, sorry, I made a mistake. He had been reading some paperwork from a different trial he had been on. WHAT???? And then he let Rittenhouse draw the names of jurors that would not be used. Like he was the judge’s pet; a very unusual never-done thing. Simple little things, maybe, but could have swayed the jury.”

We are seeing this more and more, prejudiced judges and jurors. It is a disgrace. Not a shred of guilt? We can now expect more terrible acts done if there are no consequences.
