Friday Night

***

It was a night like any other, New York City in evening street lights. A slight snowfall landing on bunched up woolen overcoats, and streets shiny slick with the first winter snowfall. New Yorkers pay no mind as they traverse slippery sidewalks to reach their destinations. Traffic is slow and minimized for the regular Friday night crowds, everyone thinking the weather too chilled for a fun night out. Restaurants emptied out early because the news reports predicted a storm, but the regulars living downtown do not let that bother them. It was Friday night and that day has significant meanings.

MLMM Wordle

It was automatic that whenever Joe introduced a new game, it was obvious he had practiced it to the point of pain! Even though we all loved Joe, he took pleasure in trying to annoy the rest of us thinking his happy winning mood should reflect on us. John decided he had enough and chose to attack stubborn Joe with his own set of rules. As we gathered for another game night, we were excited to see the funny looks on Joe’s face as he was “overruled”!

SYW 10-20-25

Here are this week’s questions:
1.  What did you have for lunch yesterday?I had lunch/dinner a baked pork chop and corn.

2.  Did you have a dessert, and if so, what was it? I had two cookies.

3.  Do you have a sweet tooth? Definitely.

4.  I read recently that a leading manufacturer has reduced the amount of cocoa in their chocolate biscuits, and it is now referred to as chocolate flavoured. Would you still buy such a product knowing that the chocolate actually isn’t. No.

Gratitude: As my health is my priority right now, I am trying to get my strength back and grateful for any progress. It’s slow and steady.

Fandango’s Story Starter

At first no one believed it true, that washing hands and using masks was a simple preventative. This of course, caused the spread of the pandemic due partly to people’s stubbornness. Julie and Jim followed the mistaken concepts put forth by the current administration of government and lost themselves to the disease’s fraudulent beliefs.

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

Joe moved to quiet Pennsylvania
Wanted to cure his clinomania
The doc said it would work
But was a jerk so
Joe suffered the mania.
Finding no cure
Read a Jamaican lure
For insomniacs’ hearts
Hoped it was smart.
Joe arrived at the spot
Saw a big cauldron pot
Decided this “cure”
Was not what he sought.

Clinquant: Glittering with gold and silver. Sibylline: Mysterious, cryptic; having a secret meaning

Kicking up sand, I watch it silently fall

The evening sea is clinquant in its movements

At once deep gold in moon’s reflection

Then eclipsed by silvery white foam

While those sibylline waves quietly approach sandy edges

I wonder what secrets they hold from worldly travels.
