A stiff stick with thorns is all that’s left of the beautiful blushing rose bush, a garden beauty. A wee chirping can be heard as a bluebird stops to rest on the bare branches. Coming out for a moment to the garden, I lazily fit myself in the Adirondack chair I painted pink to match the thistle plant. I love the Scottish symbol flower and never cut it down as many gardeners do. I consider it a summer treat to enjoy on warmer days.

Joey loved his bonsai printed knapsack, not the envy of his mates. On the way to school, Joey admired a real bonsai plant, but saw it was too near a puddle, so rescued it. The tree rejoiced in his act.
