“It couldn’t be” he thought. “I only repeated what I saw that morning, an impossible murder, a real happening, I didn’t make anything up!” Joe noticed he was in an unfamiliar place, high wavering icons shifted as he gazed up at them. His imagination had taken him there, the Hall of Judgment, or at least that’s what he remembered from childhood Bible verses. A booming voice inquired, “Are you sure, Joseph Michael Alexander Jones? Are you perfectly sure that is what you saw?” The voice seemed to grow louder. “Or are you mistaken?” A sudden electric jolt coarsed through Joe.

Wouldn’t it be loverly

Wouldn’t it be gay

To lounge around in a great big chair?

Sure you say, any day, it would be my way…

The rubber ducky life…

Scooting and floating carefree

Always sunny, always warm

Not hearing the buzz of dangerous swarms

The cries of brown or black skins

Where is their chance to float or swim

On a sunny day, peaceful and prim

Never to feel that frightening so grim

Wouldn’t it be loverly?

Iced Danger

Frozen fingers and toes

Yet I pull the sled

The rope also frozen, but I lost my way

I know this road

Follow it and get myself home.

That’s what my mind tells me

It’s hard to concentrate

Perhaps my brain is frozen too

Clap my hands together

Stomp my feet

Too far ahead I see my two friends

I just need to keep moving.

Never again will I venture down an unknown hillside

It was so fast, I had so much fun, but now

I fear if I lose sight of my friends I won’t make it

I want my warm bed, my warm blankets

I will just sit here a while

It seems warmer than walking

I’ll wait for them to find me

Joey? Mikey?….
