Writer’s Workshop

Here are this week’s prompts:
Write a post inspired by the word reality.
Write a post in exactly 15 sentences.
Write about something you think people have forgotten how to do.
Write about a favorite childhood toy.
Tell us about a time you hid from something (or someone).
Talk about something you used to do “the hard way” and how you do it now.

Reality

Reality hit me hard a few times in my life. I have always loved fantasy and stretching my imagination, thinking it might have begun in strength while watching the opening of the Disney programs as a child. I have to admit the music and picture of that castle and shooting stars still gives me a feeling. Not a feel of reality surely, but in the back of m mind I still crave the perfect dream. I’m sure it’s no surprise my favorite character was Cinderella, oh I’m really opening up now admitting that😳. But as harsh as some reality has been, I am still a dreamer and love the idea/promise? Things can be better.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

Picture Prompt-128

by rugby843, posted 4-26-17

As I descended the stairs of the old bridge, I saw it.  The answer to my quest.  All I have to do now is retrieve it.  I believe it will save them.  Legend has told me so.  One single pink flower plucked from the stream is all I need.  The woodland creatures are counting on me, because they can’t go into this enchanted place themselves.

Alice told me of their plight, and as her older sister, I must try.  I never believed in her tales of these fairies and sprites, but then one evening, I saw them.  We were just playing outside one summer, trying to catch fireflies.  A secret smile crossed Alice’s face and she quietly pointed to a tiny being on a rose petal.  “See?  I told you they were real.”  I was thrilled to actually see the small fairy.  From then on we would have so many exciting times watching the small beings.  They seemed fearless in our presence and now they needed my help.

My sister told me of the legend of this special bloom. It was a rare flower and only seen by true believers. Once I picked the bloom it would not appear again for a decade. Its power would help protect the forest creatures for the next ten years and then another would be chosen to find it. It was a matter of faith and trust between the woodland beings and little girls like Alice who believe.

I’m not even going to touch cheesy as an adjective because I qualify…But am I the only one who would think it fine to try a new cheese on which to dine? In olden days cheese, bread and fruit were all that was needed. I could handle that😀

Quark-wonder what that’s likeheavenly?

1. Do you have a word for the year (WOTY)? If so, and you’d like to share, please share. How do you decide on a word? If you don’t have a word are you still on the hunt for one for 2024? If I did it would be: frustrating

2. January 23rd is National Pie Day…will you celebrate? Do you like pie? What’s your favorite? I love pie, any kind but no I did not. M favorite is rhubarb

3. Tipping. What are your thoughts, expectations, as to who, when where? Do you appreciate a store/restaurant giving a ‘suggested amount’? Have you ever left an extravagant tip? I always tip and expect others to. Yes😂

4. Share with us one household ‘tip’ that works for you. My week has not been great in the kitchen but maybe using baking soda as a cleaner?

5. Influencers on social media are people who’ve built a reputation for their knowledge and expertise on a particular subject. Do you follow any influencers online? Have you made a purchase or tried something new because of that ‘influence’? If there’s one you particularly enjoy tell us who they are and why you enjoy them. I sometimes save recipes but do not follow anyone

6. Insert your own random thought here. Tomorrow night I hope our high school girls’ bb team has a comeback👍🏻☺️

W3 – Rondeau Freedom

Freedom isn’t free, is it

No answers from any wise wit

While evil ones survive

The cost results in many lives

Seemingly justified in patriotic bits

No lights of freedom lit

The freedom armies sit

Waiting for the next war

Freedom isn’t free

When will freedom ever fit

Church’s burning candles admit

While the public asks for more

To hear the horrid cannons roar

Young bodies’ bullets bit

Freedom isn’t free

**I hope this conforms

W3 Prompt #91: Wea’ve Written Weekly

Simply Six Minutes

They couldn’t believe their eyes, looking upon the huge mass of the grassy ball, supposedly someone’s idea of art. Sitting here in front of the famous city’s Museum of Arte, it seemed a brash insult to the old masters’ works displayed inside the building.

Too loudly discussing their surprise at seeing such, and declaring it “hardly art worthy” they were approached by a young man dressed in garden attire. “I see you don’t appreciate my creation, but that’s okay, each to his own”. The couple sheepishly walked into the building where the first thing they saw was an honoring tribute to the man they saw outside. Other works were displayed and some they had to admit were beautiful.

“We were too quick to judge”, they admitted,

Fandango’s Story Starter

This week’s Story Starter teaser is:

“Why make life harder for yourself?” Claire asked him as she….lifted the trash bag into the dumpster. Claire was always at his side offering any help she could. This simple task done, she started to push his chair back to the sidewalk.

“I can push myself and lots more if only you just stopped getting in my way!” Claire was used to his retorts and let it slide. She was feeling responsible and didn’t know how else to assist him.

“My life now is my life! I would appreciate your leaving me to do what I can do to me. I’m not helpless and I don’t want you hovering over me like I’m an invalid!”

Claire was taken aback, not realizing she made him feel so powerless. “I apologize, I didn’t realize…”

He offered up his arms to her and they hugged. Things would be better now.
