Twelve years ago I was on 24 hour oxygen, kidneys in bad shape and addicted to Fentanyl patches, taking Vicodin and ibuprofen along with various other medications. None of these things stopped pain and I finally got off everything and now only Tylenol if necessary. Probably I am lucky that I’m allergic to strong pain meds…

breath was sporadic

panic often reared it’s head

helpful listening

needed doctors’ care saved me

now I’m able to breathe free

#Haiku Happenings #2: “Haibun Monday 1-29-24: Breath” by yours truly over at dVerse Poets Pub

SYW 1-29-24

Here are this week’s questions:

1. Who is your oldest living relative (aunt, grandparent etc)? My brother-in-law.

2. How often do you visit them or is distance a factor? It’s been years but they have visited me.

3. Have any of your family lived to be 100? No.

4. Would you like to celebrate your 100th birthday? What a question!

Gratitude: I would be grateful if we did not have a warring planet.

Commentary😢

I open my blinds and see blue clear skies and a quiet sunny day, safe and sound in my small apartment but I’m feeling so sad. I know we will be sending more young people out to give their lives. Our supposed “pullout” from Middle East areas was never going to be a solution. I personally think there never will be a solution. These conflicts have been going on forever and even before 9/11 we’ve been in it, never out of it, starting with our huge consumption of oil years ago, where it is and how we get it. Our powerful position in the world, and the convenience and money oil generates promotes my assumption wars over it will never end.

We need to know and think about all of the military personnel stationed outside the US and realize war is and has been ongoing.

JJJ 28 – Congregate (Slight rant here)

Congregate, ok I get it
I just wish they would
you know, all those elected persons
sitting ignoring jurisprudence
skewed and paid for at what price
they don’t even treat each other nice
so when are they going to do their job
instead of acting the first-grader mob remembering it’s for US they work
and stop acting like loud mouthed jerks
